Community Safety Guidelines and Expectations
Second City Swingout wants to provide you with a safe and welcoming environment. To help us provide and promote a culture of safety within the event, we kindly request you read and follow the below code of conduct:
At all times be courteous and respectful of everyone while helping to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. This is regardless of, but not limited to age, body shape, ethnic background, gender, gender identities, life choices, political beliefs, race, religious beliefs (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, skill level, etc.
Second City Swingout reserves the right to take any action which it, in its sole judgment, deems appropriate in response to reports of abuse, harassment, threats, hazardous situations, or other inappropriate behavior (whether or not listed as an example on the next page), including but not limited to: warning the individual(s) who appear to be responsible, expelling them from the event, banning them from future Second City Swingout events, and/or notifying law enforcement if there is reason to believe that laws have been violated or there is a dangerous situation.
Please report any behavior that appears abusive, disrespectful, harassing, suspicious, unsafe, or that makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason to the person at the front desk, and they will find a Second City Swingout staff member. You may also send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Except in cases where disclosure is required by law, we will treat any information we receive with strict confidentiality, unless otherwise instructed by the person reporting the incident.
Lindy Hop is an athletic, high-paced style of dance, often involving acrobatic displays. For safety, Second City Swingout prohibits execution of air-steps, flips, and other acrobatic maneuvers during its social dances. There is an appropriate time to perform acrobatic maneuvers, and if you don’t know when that is, then you should not be performing it.
Event attendees assume all responsibility and liability for any injuries they might suffer or cause during, and/or as a result of their participation in Second City Swingout events. Second City Swingout does not assume responsibility for injury to attendees’ due to their personal behavior.
Information collected by Second City Swingout from visitors to our website or from their computers will remain private and confidential. Second City Swingout may collect phone numbers, email addresses, or mailing address information from attendees, but that information will never be used for any purpose other than distribution of information to those visitors about current and future Second City Swingout events.
Second City Swingout will never release any personal information submitted from a website visitor to any outside party, nor will we distribute any submitted email addresses to any outside organization or group unless express permission is given.
