Alabama Center For Literary Arts
The Celebration of Literary Arts Festival was initiated at DMACC in conjunction with the National Poetry Festival. The purpose of this celebration is to bring noted fiction and poetry writers to the six DMACC campuses to read their works and interact with students. Central to the festival is the idea that writers can be published and that one can indeed make a living as a professional writer or professional writer/faculty member.

Literary Arts also focuses on project-based and collaborative learning, and students get hands-on experience in editing, designing, and producing publications. Literature broadly is any collection of written work, but it is also used more narrowly for writings specifically considered to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, and poetry. In recent centuries, the definition has expanded to include oral literature, much of which has been transcribed. Literature is a method of recording, preserving, and transmitting knowledge and entertainment, and can also have a social, psychological, spiritual, or political role. For fifty years, Literary Arts at Brown University has been a creative and intellectual center for a diverse and innovative literary community. Along with a handful of other writing programs nationwide, Brown provides a home for writers who are envisioning new paths in fiction, poetry, digital language arts, and mixed media.
